Product Description

What happens to dreamers who don’t make it?

Our culture tells us a big, fat lie. “If you dream it, you can do it.”

It seems to happen every day. Someone new makes it big in music, acting, or writing. Phenoms inspire us to dream big dreams. And yet, for every new talent who rewrites the rules of success, there are countless others who tried just as hard and failed.

Michael Joel Green devoted his life to becoming an artist. In King of the Middle, Michael reports what this life is actually like. Michael explores his funny, awkward, and sublime experiences in pursuing the arts. He shares what failure has taught him. He’s learned to redefine the word fail.

King of the Middle: A Memoir shows us just how tough big dreams can be. Michael inspires us to look for our dreams in a different place. Coming soon.

From the back cover

Have you heard of Michael Joel Green? The musician? Actor? Writer?

No? You’re not alone. Michael is no closer to artistic success than when he began over two decades ago. And yet, Michael isn’t taking failure lying down.

King of the Middle is a memoir about an ordinary person who pursued big dreams. Michael’s book is a cautionary tale. The business of art can drive you crazy. It’s also an affirming group hug for everyone who has taken a risk.

Will Michael find success? Does he ever need to? “I sought a worldwide audience. But there’s an audience of one I’m more concerned about. What God thinks of me is, ultimately, what I search for in art.”

We haven’t heard of Michael. God has. And Michael lets us know, God has heard of you, too.
