Refund and Returns Policy

Overview of Book Returns

We want you to be 100% happy with your purchase. We have a “no questions asked” return policy on unused, regularly-priced books.

Our refund/returns policy lasts for 30 days. If 30 days have passed since your purchase, we can’t offer you a full refund or exchange.


To be eligible for a return, your book must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. When applicable, it must also be in the original packaging.

Return shipping

If you received free shipping on your order, you must return the product at your expense. If you paid for shipping at the time of purchase and the return was due to our error, we will cover the cost of return shipping.

Consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We can’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.

Please contact us at before sending back your return. Before agreeing to accept your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase from our store, The Writing Thing Press. We can’t accept returns of our products bought from retailers or third-party sellers.

When we agree to have you send back the product, we will give you a shipping address.

Condition of the return

There are certain situations where a refund cannot be granted:

  • Merchandise (T-shirts, bags, coffee mugs)
  • Books with obvious signs of use
  • Any item not in its original condition, damaged, or missing parts for reasons not due to our error.
  • Any item that is returned more than 30 days after delivery

We can’t offer partial refunds. If the item is not in its original condition, it can’t be refunded.

Overview of Merchandise Returns


We’re sorry but returns are not available for ordering the wrong size, wanting a different color, or for a change of mind.

We’ve partnered with Printful, the #1 Print-on-demand company. They 100% stand behind their quality. A return is available if the product you receive is defective.

  • Any claims for misprinted, damaged, or defective items must be submitted within 4 weeks after the product has been received.
  • For packages lost in transit, all claims must be submitted no later than 4 weeks after the estimated delivery date.
  • Claims deemed an error on the printer’s part are covered at their expense.

Sale items

Only regular-priced books may be refunded. Sale items cannot be refunded.

Merchandise can’t be refunded unless there is a manufacturing defect.

Regular-priced items

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.

If you are approved, your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original payment method within a certain amount of days (determined by your method of payment).

Late or missing refunds

If your refund hasn’t been posted, check your bank account or credit card statement again. It may take some time before your refund appears.

We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, please contact us here.


We can only issue a return to the purchaser of the item (who has proof of purchase). If you received the item as a gift, contact the person who gave it to you. They can initiate the return.
